AIW Gallery Show- "ANATOMY"

The most recent art show on display in the gallery at the Art Institute of Washington contained detailed drawings of the human anatomy based on human cadavers. Each artists work was completely unique to their own style. Where Marie Dauenheimer's pieces were extremely simplistic and precise, Josh Yavelberg's pieces were more abstract and colorful. Both showed their own representations of the dissected cadavers, along with several other artists. The show also showed parts of the actual dissections of the cadavers done by the teachers and students from AIW. It was very interesting to see this and how interested and intrigued the students seemed, as opposed to being disgusted and horrified; as I, most likely,  would be.

Unilever is a company that makes home, personal, and food products used by many. Hillmans, Lipton, Axe, and Dove are come of the more popular products they sponsor and produce. Their logo is a "U" comprised of many organic symbols such as DNA, bee, lips, birds, hands, waves, shells, and leaves. These components all represent what the company and their products stand for.

Web 2.0- Discovery Kids

When looking into the Web 2.0 trend, I found the Discovery Kids website. This falls directly into the Web 2.0 category with its bold colors and interactivity. The bright orange and green pop on the blue background, creating great contrast between each of the different sections of the web page. Adding to the trend, the pattern of simple circles on the background add a playful touch without being overwhelming, which lots of patterned backgrounds tend to be. Also, the images Discovery used are very vibrant and strong, keeping with the boldness of the rest of the colors and graphics. The main content contains a moving slide of different shows and games highlighted on the site. This interactivity is key in adding to the Web 2.0 aesthetic. Overall, this site is perfect for its audience of younger children, with its simplistic and bright layout and design, while also accommodating the Web 2.0 trend guide lines.

AIW Gallery Show- "CARE"

After walking through the gallery show in the lobby of the Art Institute of Washington, this piece stood out the most to me. First in the colors the artist used. The combination of red, teal, grey and white work very well together. The red dress pops as it is positioned in front of the teal background. Also, the use of black and white images works perfectly and creates a balance with the boldness of the background and dress. The way the artist scattered the images, so that they were not aligned evenly, creates a sense of chaos in a fairly simplistic  creation.

Fire Hydrant Art

http://urban.csuohio.edu/~sanda/pic/travel/us/ohio/cleveland/cleve04/hydrants/

When doing research for art work on my banner re-design, I came across this website of fire hydrant art. I was amazed with the great detail the artists put into their designs. I felt very inspired to create some more abstract pieces, as opposed to very organized and structured pieces, which I usually resort to in most of my designs.

Trends: Corporate Website

When browsing through the amazing websites on coolhomepages.com, I came across journeycreatives.com. It has a very corporate design and layout. The color scheme of pink, white, and black, while very simple, is very sophisticated. This sophistication gives the website a professional appearance.

Trends: Playful Website

When trying to find a website that is along the lines of the playful trend, Disney's website came to mind: http://disney.go.com/index. It is filled with games and videos for young children to teens to play and watch. It is an extremely interactive website, with flashy scrolls, hovers, and animation. It appeals to young and more mature audiences and also to both genders.
